mini Scan to Word OCR Converter is a simple and easy to use batch-conversion tool to transform any number of PDF files into editable, text-searchable MS Word or RTF documents. Its OCR capabilities makes it a very useful tool when dealing with image-based PDF files, such as PDF documents made up of scanned pages. They range from basic PDF-to-Word conversion to high-quality OCR processing of images and image-based pages to produce searchable text without losing the original layout. mini Scan to Word OCR is the only of the three capable of perform its OCR capabilities on multi-page TIFF, MNG, and PDF files. Besides, it includes some valuable processing features that greatly improve its text recognition tasks, such as mirror, flip, rotate, skew, crop, or dither, among others.
Its support for batch conversion allows you to add as many PDF and image files as required to the conversion list and customize their output. Note, however, that whatever settings you select, these will be applied to all the files on the list. Apart from a type of file for the output (MS Word or RTF), you can define the page range to be converted and the password needed to open the files. Besides, the program offers you seven output profiles for faster and more accurate results, ranging from “original layout without text boxes” (labeled as the “best” option), to “original layout with text boxes”, the “fastest” one. Preservation of the original layout and how text is reproduced in the converted file (either flow text or continuous text) are the main concerns of these output profiles.
The program works fast and produces high-quality editable versions of the original images or image-based PDF files. The tag price is not for everyone, though.
